One of the questions I get asked most often is, “How long will it take to power wash my house?” I wish I could give a simple answer but the truth is that it depends on a variety of factors. Every home is unique, and so are its cleaning needs. But don’t worry, I’m going to break it all down for you.
1. The Type of Siding Your Home Has
The type of siding on your house plays a big role in how long the job will take. Vinyl siding is one of the quicker surfaces to clean because it’s smooth and doesn’t trap dirt as easily. On the other hand, brick or stucco homes might take a little longer since they have more nooks and crannies to tackle. Wood siding? That requires extra care to ensure the pressure doesn’t damage the material, so it can also extend the cleaning time.
2. When Was the Last Time Your Home Was Professionally Cleaned?
If your home hasn’t been power washed in years, dirt, algae, and grime have probably built up quite a bit. The more buildup there is, the more time it takes to thoroughly clean every inch of the surface. If your house gets regular cleaning, the process is much faster since we’re maintaining cleanliness instead of starting from scratch.
3. Dealing With Algae, Mold, and Stubborn Dirt
Homes with a lot of algae or mold growth can take longer to power wash because I need to use specialized cleaning solutions and allow time for them to work their magic. These areas sometimes need to be pre-treated before power washing to ensure they come out clean without damaging the surface.
4. Hard-to-Reach Areas
Tall house or hard-to-reach spots? Those areas do take a little longer to clean because they require extra equipment like ladders or telescoping wands to get the job done right. The goal is always thoroughness and safety, and that means no shortcuts.
5. Trees and Landscaping
If your home is surrounded by trees, shrubs, or landscaping, it can add a bit of time to the job. I love the natural beauty of trees, but they can leave behind sap, pollen, or debris that requires special attention during the cleaning process. Don’t worry, I protect your landscaping while I work.
So, How Long Does It Take?
For a standard single-story home with vinyl siding and minimal buildup, the power washing process might take around 1–2 hours. A larger, two-story home with harder-to-clean materials, lots of dirt or algae, or complex features could take anywhere from 3–4 hours or more.
Every home is different, which is why I offer personalized quotes. I’ll assess your property, discuss your needs, and give you an accurate estimate of both time and cost.
